Barbara J. Long

Barbara J. Long, age 91, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on April 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. 

Barbara was born in Saginaw on December 10, 1932, the daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie (Lyons) Duranso. 

She was a dedicated individual who worked for Covenant (formerly Saginaw General) for 25 years before retiring. Barbara was known for her loving and caring personality. In her free time, Barbara enjoyed going up north to the family cabin on Wixom Lake, where she and her husband Louis retired to. She found joy in doing crossword puzzles and had a special place in her heart for her pets, dog Charlie and cat Teeney.

She was married to Louis Glenn Long on May 29, 1977. Louis preceded her in death on December 24, 2011. Barbara is survived by her children Rita Sheltraw, David Sheltraw, and Sherry (Paul) Hickey; six grandchildren Terry, David (Kelly), Paul (Diana), Todd, Rita (Chad), and Amanda (Zak); as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, two stepchildren mourn her passing.
 
 She is preceded in death by her son Robert Sheltraw; and siblings Josie, Robert, Johnny, Harry, and Rose. Additionally, three stepchildren preceded her in death.

Barbara will be remembered for her warm heart and the love she shared with those around her. May she rest in peace.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603, where the funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Fr.
