Passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026 at the age of 89 years.
The daughter of the late Albert E. and Emily (Kustka) Grammer was born on December 20, 1936 in Chicago, IL. Barbara came to Saginaw in 1969 to teach band initially at Zilwaukee School, eventually moving to Saginaw North Junior High School, where she retired in the early 1990s. She was a proud graduate of the University of Illinois and a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. After retirement, she co-founded Watchdog Music Publishers and spent many years performing, writing, and arranging music. She was a longtime member of the Saginaw Eddy Concert Band, Sasse Saxophone Quartet, and performed in local pit orchestras, jazz bands, and in many other community music groups. She and her husband, Jack, also had a jazz trio that played in local restaurants for many years. Besides music, her other life’s passions were golf, gardening, and animals.
Surviving are her children: David Littell, Susan Littell, daughter-in-law: Gayle Littell, grandson: Jamin (Missy) Littell, great-grandchildren: Lily, Izzy, Logan, Benji Littell, Jack Bruske’s Children: Jackie (Bob) Larsen, Tim (Nan) Bruske, Chris (Dave) Marsden, and many other extended family members and friends. Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Jack Bruske, and her son, Jeff Littell.
A celebration of life will take place at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the celebration of life. Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider the Best Friends Animal Society, Amazing Grace Animal Rescue, Angels Among Us or a shelter of your choice.
