Arnold George Pretzer, Jr. of Hemlock, Michigan

Beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. He was 86 years old. Arnold was born on June 1, 1940, in Saginaw County to the late Arnold George Sr. and Anna A. (Fischer) Pretzer. He was a proud 1959 graduate of Hemlock High School where he participated in track. Arnold held many jobs throughout his life, including the Hess Gold Duck Farm, Saginaw Plating, A.T. Ferrell, and Bueker Construction. He was a lifetime and faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church on Pretzer Road and enjoyed being an usher for the congregation. He enjoyed spending time working on small engines. German through and through, Arnold was a simple man who found peace and tranquility at his home, especially watching the deer and other wildlife on his property.

Surviving are his siblings: Ken (Thelma) Pretzer of Hemlock; Raymond Pretzer of Hemlock; Otto (Donna) Pretzer of Thomas Twp.; Dorothy Pretzer of Hemlock; Glen (Linda) Pretzer of St. Charles; Ron (Debbie) Pretzer of Hemlock; Tom (Susan) Pretzer of Hemlock; Doug (Judy) Pretzer of Bay City; Liz (Chris) Jeroue of Midland; a sister-in-law, Donna Pretzer of Hemlock. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Anna Prezer Sr.; two brothers, Jim and Robert Pretzer; three sister, Ruth Pretzer, Judith (Harvey) Rogner, and Joyce (August) Diener, a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Pretzer.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his best friends, Gary and Patty Kricher, Covenant HealthCare nursing staff, and Covenant Hospice for all the love and care they provided to Arnold and the family.

A funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2290 Pretzer Road, Hemlock, Michigan, 48626. Pastor Philip Loescher will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to visit at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
