Spears, Arlene Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Friday March 18, 2016 at HealthSource of Saginaw at the age of 99 years. Arlene was born December 20, 1916 in Buena Vista. The daughter of the late Arthur and Grace (Webster) Kimmel. Arlene married Samuel Spears September 30, 1939. He predeceased her November 12, 2002. Arlene had a great American Heritage; she was related to the Admiral Husband E. Kimmell of the U. S. Pacific Fleet during the attack on Pearl Harbor and Samuel J. Tilden, governor of New York, who lost the presidential election of 1876 by one electoral vote (he won the popular majority). Surviving are two nephews and a niece; Michael Kimmel, Larry Kimmel and Debbie Oaks; also many other nieces and nephews. Arlene was predeceased by her son Thomas James Spears on January 21, 1974, one brother and two sister's Arthur F. Kimmel, Ardis Kreter and Gladys Esckilsen. Funeral service will take place 1:00 p.m. Thursday March 31, 2016 from the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Douglas Basset will officiate with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service. www.casefuneralhome.com
