Fritz, Arlene M. Saginaw, Michigan Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away early Friday, May 17, 2013, at Jody Cook Assisted Living. Age 88 years. Arlene Marie Allen was born September 7, 1924, in Boyne City, Michigan, the daughter of the late John and Cynthia (Martin) Allen. She married Edward T. Fritz on May 14, 1949; he predeceased her November 19, 2006. She had been employed by Fritz Linoleum for many years. She was an accomplished writer and published author of short stories. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards and singing. She especially loved being with her grandchildren. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Dennis Costello, Saginaw; three grandchildren, Jonathan Fritz, Janene and Matthew McMahon, and Heidi and Steve Sitts; two great-grandchildren, Robert James Lown and Clare Elizabeth McMahon; many nieces, nephews and their families. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Floyd Fritz, a grandson, Ulrich David Mielke, and by many brothers and sisters. Her family extends special thanks to her caregivers, Jody, Lorraine and Nettie, and to all of the staff at Heartland Hospice, for their kindness and care. Funeral service will take place at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, where her family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. Sunday until the time of service. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate.
