Loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend passed away, March 4, 2019, at her home surrounded by her children. She was 93 years young. Arlene was born, April 14, 1925, to Arthur and Lena (Zimmerman) Wahl of Saginaw. She became a child of God through baptism on May 2, 1925 and was confirmed on April 12, 1939 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She married Wilbur Hoffman on July 17, 1948. They would celebrate 50 years of marriage before he passed away on November 14, 1998. Arlene and Wilbur owned and operated Schaefer Hat Store in downtown Saginaw. She was a PRIDE Friday Night Live volunteer for 18 years. Arlene was involved in several other organizations throughout her life, Women's Farm and Garden Assoc., Valpo Guild, PEO, and her church, Peace Lutheran. Surviving are her 3 children, Nancy (Roger) Borchard, Mary Sheets, David (fianc Margie Patterson) Hoffman. She also leaves 4 grandchildren, Amy (Josh) Schluchter, Jason (Rachel) Borchard, Andrew (Katie) Sheets, and Katie (Tyler) Judkins. Also surviving her are 8 great-grandchildren, Dean and Molly Schluchter, Mya, Quinn and Libby Borchard, Layla and William Sheets and Carter Judkins. In addition to her immediate family, Arlene leaves nieces, nephews, many friends and special caregiver, Gail Pardy. Arlene was predeceased by a brother, Clayton Wahl and son-in-law, John Sheets. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2019 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave. Saginaw. Rev. Matthew Hauser will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. on Thursday, March 7, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and then at the Church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
