Anthony George Koutras

Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Covenant HealthCare Cooper, with his family at his side. Age 85 years.

The son of the late George and Olympia (Serros) Koutras, Tony was born on August 18, 1940, in Olympia, Greece. He served as an officer in the Greek Army, demonstrating a commitment to his country. Following his service, he pursued higher education at a university in Athens before moving to the United States. Tony’s mother was born in America and one of his dreams was to live there. He moved to Saginaw in 1965, met Rula Armeros, and they married on April 16, 1966. They shared many wonderful years together. She survives him. Tony was a devoted member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, and actively participated in the AHEPA organization. Tony’s career started as a cook at Mr. Hot Dog and he moved on to Combustion Engineering, progressing from a line worker up to a Foreman. His later career included car repair, service, and dealerships while helping others learn the trade. Tony held a deep love for the United States, grateful for the dreams and opportunities it made possible. He loved tending to his garden, playing cards, and traveling to visit relatives. Above all, Tony cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving besides his wife, Rula Koutras; are their sons and their wives, John and Andrea Koutras, Constantine and Mary Koutras; grandchildren, Adrian, Vincent, Georgia, Andonis, and Timotheos Koutras; sister; Hariklia Vrahnis; brothers-in-law, James Stamatos, and Steve Armeros. Also surviving are many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Besides his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his son, George Anthony Koutras.
