Beloved daughter, wife, aunt and grandaunt passed away Friday, June 3, 2022. Age 103 years. The daughter of Andrew A. and Frances (Willing)Reis. Agnes was born July 26, 1918 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Fred A. Gratopp on January 16, 1943. He predeceased her December 12, 1979. Agnes was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, SS. Peter and Paul campus and enjoyed cooking, baking, creating beautiful gift boxes from cereal boxes, and crosses made from yarn she shared with everyone she met.
Surviving are her sister-in-law Evelyn Reis of Port St. Lucie, Florida, two nephews, Andrew and Kathy Reis and Michael and Nancy Reis, cousin Kale Ann Reis of Saginaw along with many grand nieces and nephews. Agnes enjoyed visits by her special friend June Bender. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, brother Henry R. and Martha (Meyer) Reis, niece Karen Ann Reis, and nephews Henry M. and Frederick J. Reis
Agnes’s family extends their appreciation to the staff at St. Francis Nursing home for their gentle and compassionate care of Agnes. Agnes's favorite expression was "Always for the Katz (cat)".
Funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at St. Dominic Catholic Parish, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave. Rev. Fr. John Johnson will officiate with music provided by her grand-nephew Jeremy Reis. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Dominic Parish.
