Adam Carl Sherman

Adam C. Sherman of Hemlock, Michigan Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022, at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper, with his family by his side. He was 97 years old. Adam Carl Sherman was born on March 13, 1925, in Saginaw, Michigan. He was in the foster care system all his young life. When he aged out, he was taken in by Martin and Frieda Neuenfeldt, and their son, Bernard, who made him apart of their family, along with all the Neuenfeldt's extended family. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, serving two years until his honorable discharge. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Elsie Clara Tessin, May 29, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hemlock; she preceded him in death on August 19, 2022. He and Elsie owned and operated their own farm in Hemlock for over 70 years. He was also a collision estimator for E. F. Wieneke Ford, which later became Sarge Harvey Ford. Upon their closure, Adam then finished his career with Garber Buick. He was a longtime former member of Zion Lutheran Church and a current member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, where he served both congregations faithfully as an usher. On his 90th birthday, family and friends gathered and wrote down their fondest memories of Adam. Most of the memories shared included: Adam teaching others how to ride a bike, his affinity toward all children and love for always taking the time to play with them, and his innate ability to calm a baby by simply holding them and singing. He will forever be remembered for his loving, kind, and caring spirit, his selflessness to anyone in need, and his ability to rise above all he encountered in this life and always moving forward with optimism.

Surviving are a son, Dale (Jeri) Sherman; a daughter, Mary (Steven) Graves; six grandchildren: Sheila (Andy) Liszka; Megan (Eric) Scott; Kyle (Jenny) Sherman; Brent (Jessica Warner-Klein) Graves; Kraig (Dana) Sherman; Kurt (Kelsey) Sherman; 11 great-grandchildren; family member, Bonnie Neuenfeldt; and a foster brother, Jerry Ford; brother-in-law, Walter (Shirley) Tessin. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by Martin and Frieda Neuenfeldt and their son, Bernard; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Martin (Agnes) Tessin and Helen Tessin.
