Passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the age of 85 years. The son of the late Charles and Catherine (Gunderman) Shuler was born on December 30, 1932, in Flint. He married Donna Jean Hasse on August 13, 1954; she predeceased him on April 9, 2005. Walter served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Saginaw County Sheriffs Department. Walter was an avid fisherman. Surviving are his children: Cathy Shuler, Chuck (Heather) Shuler, Scott (Carol) Shuler, Todd (Lynn) Shuler, his grandchildren: Magen, Scotty, Traci, Lisa, Justin, Brandon, 9 great-grandchildren: Hayden, Katelyn, Jase, Gavin, Landon, Ayslyn, Anthony, Camren, Sophia, his siblings: Norma Herweyer, Clara (Bill) Vlassis, Betty (Don) Tucker, Richard (Vicki) Shuler, Donna Shelenhamer, his sister-in-law Eve Shuler and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Walter was predeceased by his brother Donald Shuler. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March10, 2018 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. with military burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Friday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
