Walter J. Butzin Saginaw, Michigan Passed away suddenly, Thursday, January 16, 2014. Age 84 years. The son of the late Walter E. and Margaret (Graham) Butzin was born August 7, 1929 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill Technical School and served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He married Marie L. Barowski, February 20, 1954. She survives him. He was employed by General Motors, Saginaw Steering Gear, retiring with 40 years of service. He enjoyed golf, sports and was an avid Detroit Tigers, Michigan State University and Detroit Lions fan. Surviving besides his wife, Marie, are three children, Dr. Kurt A. Butzin and his wife, Michelle, Saginaw, MI; Lori L. Butzin, Grand Rapids, MI; Jeffrey S. Butzin and his wife, Patricia, Shelby Township, MI; three grandchildren, Kayla Polega and her husband, Adam; Matthew and Troy Butzin; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Eleanor and Arthur Marti, Saginaw, MI; Ruth Streng, Carey, NC; several nieces, nephews and his beloved dogs, Sadie Belle and Miley Jo. A brother and sister, Gerald Butzin and Lorraine Spickler have predeceased him. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Saginaw. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate with Military burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of V.F.W. Post # 1859.
