Walt passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Avista Nursing and Rehabe Center of Bridgeport at the age of 63.
He was born on March 18, 1958 in Saginaw, Michigan to David and Elizabeth (Novy) Proulx. He attended Freeland Community Schools from 5th through 11th grade. He graduated from Birch Run High School.
Walt was a kind and gentle soul who made friendships easily. He had many interests: astrology, football, collecting books, Wagnerian Operas, gemology, and most importantly, his writings. He had an exceptional ability to deal with life’s hard realities with dignity and grace.
Walt is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Novy) Proulx, his brother Frank Proulx, sister Elizabeth Proulx, stepmother Kay Proulx, his aunts: Barbara Webster, Dianne Proulx, several cousins, including some that were particularly close and special to Walt: Lynn Slomkowski-Kitabchi and Laura Spagnuolo. He was dearly loved by his family and is greatly missed. He was predeceased by his father David Proulx, brother Neil Proulx, and his aunt Virginia Slomkowski.
Walt’s family would like to thank the many people who touched his life and were so helpful to him: the staff of ResCare Premier (Chesaning), New Passages (Saginaw), the nurses of Covenant Healthcare and the staff of Butman-Fish and Hoyt Libraries of Saginaw.
Private interment has taken place at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Saginaw, MI. A memorial gathering will take place at a later date. Those wishing to express sympathy may wish to donate to: Friends of the Saginaw Public Libraries (Butman-Fish and Hoyt Branches), 505 Janes Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607.
