Viola Riselay

Viola Riselay Columbus, Wisconsin Formerly of Saginaw Passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, while living at the At Home Again Assisted Living Home in Columbus, WI, at the age of 99. She was born on December 15, 1917, at home on the family farm in Bridgeport, MI, daughter of the late Charles and Amelia Madsen. Viola attended a one room school house and then went on to graduate from Saginaw High School. She married Charles William Riselay on October 18, 1938. He predeceased her on July 13, 2005. While Charles was called off to war, Viola worked at the Saginaw gun plant that was right behind her home. She talked quite a bit about eating a lot of peanut butter, as there was meat rationing during the depression. Viola and Charles had two sons, Daniel and John. Viola was a very dear friend to everyone she met. She enjoyed painting, farming and getting their crop ready for the farmers market each week. While Charles ran the family moving company, she tended to the children. Above all she was a devout Christian Scientist. She read her lessons daily and belonged to First Church of Christ Scientist Saginaw and attended First Church of Christ Scientists in Fond u Lac, Wisconsin. Reading her periodicals and other Christian Science devotions were a large part of her life. She shared many of her healings with her church family on Wednesday nights. She had some amazing stories of healings that everyone loved to hear. Viola is survived by her son John and daughter-in-law Karen, daughter-in-law Sirrka Riselay and two grandsons, Stephen (Mary) Riselay and Matt (Amy) Riselay along with 4 great grandchildren. She is further survived by one sister-in-law Betty Meisel. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2005, and her son Daniel in 2007. She spent the last 10 years of her life close to her son John, in Wisconsin, and she often said they were the best years of her life. She will truly be missed by everyone who had the great pleasure of knowing her. Funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
