Verna W. (Birsching) Field

Passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the age of 101 years. Verna W. Birsching was born on May 26, 1916, in Sebewaing, Michigan, to the late Wilhelm and Emilie (Armbruster) Birsching. During her life she was married three times, first to Herbert Wachner, Sr., then Harold Lea, and lastly Clyde Field. All her spouses predeceased her. Verna was employed at a variety of retail stores, such as Wiechmanns and Heavenrichs. She was an avid square dancer, enjoyed going to the theater and playing cards, and was an enthusiastic golfer until the age of 97 years. Verna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and then Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Vernas life was perhaps best described that she "did it her way!" Mrs. Field is survived by her daughter-in-law, Barbara Black; her grandchildren and their spouses, Howard (Joyce) Wachner, Lynnette (Dennis) Kreinbrink, Gerald (Adele) Wachner, James (Jennifer) Wachner, and Leslie (Gary) Fite; numerous great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, four sons, and three daughters-in-law. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 5250 Mackinaw Road. The Rev. Homer Mosely will officiate. Private burial will occur later in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
