Thomas J. Wenzel

Went home to be with the Lord and his "lovely Darlin'" on May 12, 2017, at the age of 94 years. Tom was born March 2, 1923, in Albee Township to the late Fred and Amelia (Kurzhals) Wenzel. He married the love of his life Virginia Hines on April 3, 1943; she predeceased him May 31, 1977. He worked as a farmer and for the Gratiot Lumber Company. He was very active at his church, St. John Lutheran Church, where he served in the choir, church counsel, and schoolboard. He will be missed by his children, Larry (Bonnie) Wenzel, Cris Stover, Mike (Nancy) Wenzel, and Cathy (Larry) Gould; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 13 siblings and 3 grandchildren. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church 2290 Pretzer Rd. Rev. Phil Bigelow will officiate with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at W.L. Case & Company 201 N. Miller Rd on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
