Terry Michael Scheffler

Terry Michael Scheffler, 55 years of age born April 17, 1961, the son of Walter and Helen (Giltrop) Scheffler, husband of Ginger (Nitz) Scheffler for 28 years passed away at their home unexpectedly on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Terry was a loving father who was extremely proud of their two children: Apryl Scheffler and Lee Scheffler. He was a lifelong member of Ss. Francis and Clare Parish, formerly Sacred Heart Catholic Church and resident of Birch Run. He graduated with honors from Birch Run High School, the class of 1979. Terry was a master of many trades: he designed and built (with the help of many relatives and friends) their home in 1988, furniture for their home, and always maintained and fixed vehicles. He was previously employed by People's Garbage and Nitz Valve Hardware until he fell ill with Guillain-Barr Syndrome (GBS). He enjoyed ice fishing on the Au Sable River and living in his self-built shanty, "The Au Sable Hilton" which included a wood burning stove and bunk beds. He also enjoyed camping, especially in da U.P. His immediate surviving family include his wife Ginger, daughter Apryl, son Lee, parents Walter and Helen, brothers: Tim (Deb) Scheffler, Jim (Roxanne) Scheffler, John (Janet) Scheffler and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway. Fr. Thomas McNamara will officiate. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday at the funeral chapel from 2:00-7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of the funeral service.
