Susan Ann White

Passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on March 28, 2019 while surrounded by family after a brief illness. Sue was born in Saginaw on June 25, 1955 to Sally (OBrien) and Robert York. After graduating from Arthur Hill High School in 1973, she set out on her career while creating three stellar children. After completing her greatest work and masterpiece of a child, she began a career with The Saginaw News in 1982 as a writer which spanned 30 years. During her time with the News, she formed many friendships that continue to this day. While she covered national artists and became a favorite interviewer and friend of many stars, her true passion was for local music and arts. She was active in the local music and art scene up until the end, and was truly honored to have received awards for Women in Journalism and an All Area Arts Award, plus many more. In her spare time, Sue was active in the Lutheran church, and taught Sunday School for decades. She also wrote childrens books and biographies when she wasnt busy writing for magazines and other media sources during her "retirement". She also loved to travel, visiting nearly every state in America plus Europe, Mexico, and most Canadian provinces. Surviving her are her pride and joy grandchildren Alex Bell, Faith Bell, Ethan White, Vincent Fonzi, Liam Higgins, Thomas Bell, and Calvin "Jupiter" White. Also surviving are her children Nicole (Dustin) Bell, Jennifer (Loren) Higgins, and Brian (Emily) White, plus her siblings David York, Kathy York, Michael (Hortencia) York, Kristin (Ernie) Kindle, and Todd (Tracey) York. She was predeceased by a wonderful father Robert York, brother Mark York, and granddaughter Katie Bell. A celebration of Sues life will take place on Tuesday, April 2 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8695 Gratiot Rd, Saginaw, MI at 1:00pm. with Rev. Julie Bailey officiating. Visitors are welcome at 11:30am. until the time of the celebration. As a supporter of the local arts, the family wishes to honor Sues legacy by asking that in lieu of flowers, visitors wishing to make a donation consider making a donation to Major Chords for Minors, an organization supporting music education in the Saginaw area.
