Rosamond C. Mathis

Rosamond C. Mathis (Wahl) Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Monday, June 26, 2017, at New Hope Valley Assisted Living. Age 96 years. The daughter of the late Maleta (Cook) and James C. Wahl was born, July 25, 1920 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Alvin Phillip Mathis, November 22, 1940. Her husband of 70 years passed away August 20, 2011. Rosamond attended Midland Evangelical Free Church and was an active volunteer. She was an amazing, artistic and skillful woman. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and was an accomplished seamstress and decorator. Her positive outlook on life until the very end is to be emulated. She was an avid sports fan, especially Detroit Tigers Baseball. Surviving are three children and their spouses, Judy and Jon Dewald, Pontiac, Illinois; James and Joan Mathis, Gaylord, MI; Mary Jo and Mike Thomas, Freeland, MI; ten grandchildren, Sheri, Tracy, Jami, Matt, Jennifer, Michelle, Josh, Julie, Amy, and Molly; thirty-one great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Kathleen Sue Mathis, and two brothers, Wellington Wahl and Clayton Wahl have predeceased her. Private family memorial services will take place at a later date.
