Roger D. Leonard

Roger D. Leonard, Saginaw, Michigan passed away with the comfort of his family by his side Sunday, February 23, 2020, after a long courageous battle with Lymphoma; at the age of 80 years. He was a very loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Roger was born on July 15, 1939 in Saginaw, MI. The son of the late Joseph and Evelyn M. Leonard. He married Judith Leonard (Dwyer) April 19, 1969, they shared 45 wonderful years together; she preceded him in death on September 10, 2014. Roger was a 1957 graduate of Saginaw High School and also attended Arthur Hill Tech. He retired from US Graphite with 40 years of dedicated service. Roger loved spending time up north with his family and friends and had a great love for the outdoors. He had a life long passion for fishing and hunting and always had an interesting story to tell.

Surviving are four children and their spouses: Debbie and Scott Milstead, Patty and Dan Clark, Sally and Tim Faulkner, John and Kelley Dwyer; sixteen grandchildren: Alexandrea, Michael, Aaron, Adrian, Sidney, Erica, Scottie, Hannah, Jeremy, Preston, Kelsey, Kristi, Myles, Laura, Steven, Katie; twenty two great-grandchildren; a brother: Ronald (Marie) Leonard of Saginaw. Roger cherished the friendship with his best friend, Bill Griffus; and his fishing buddies: Dan, Matt and Brennen. Also surviving are many dear nieces, nephews and extended family. Roger is preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberlie A. Leonard; a brother, Eldon J. Leonard. Roger had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Molly.

Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw. Rev. Erik Schmidt will officiate. Honoring Roger’s wishes, cremation will follow his service. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may consider memorials to the family in c/o Patricia Clark; to go towards a memorial bench and improvements to the fishing dock at Henderson Lake in Roger’s memory.
