Robert P. Dean

Dean, Robert P. "Bob" Merrill, MI Our beloved husband, father, and "Papa" passed away suddenly on February 12, 2014, at the age of 65. Bob was born July 6, 1948, in Saginaw, MI to the late Albert and Grace (O'Toole) Dean. He was 2nd oldest of 13 children and was a life-long resident of Mt. Haley Twp. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1966. He began his career at Dow Chemical that same year taking 2yrs leave while he served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970. He was very proud to be an American and had a great respect for his fellow veterans. He attended ITT in Grand Rapids studying electronics and later earned his Masters Electrician status. He worked for Dow Chemical for 42 years retiring in 2009. He was the Electrical Inspector for Mt. Haley Twp. for more than 20 years but his true passion was farming. He took great pride in the opportunity to work the same ground of the farm that had been in his family for over 100 years. He would say sitting in his backyard watching his crops grow was his own little piece of heaven. He worked hard at everything he did and was always willing to accept a challenge to learn new things regardless of the topic. He was always there to lend a hand and a true Christian in every sense of the word. Bob was well known, well-liked, and respected in his community. He was a life-long member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ryan. He married Peggy Demers on November 17, 1978; she survives him. Besides his wife he will be dearly missed by his children, Megan Dean and Tyler Dean; his grandchildren, Grayson and Eli who were his pride and joy and with whom he spent every day; his siblings, Gary (Susan) Dean, Ann (Chet) Gensch, Ed (Deb) Dean, June (Mike) Pentrich, Mary Jane (Dan) Derosia, Linda (Bob) Anguiano, Bill (Linda Bigelow) Dean, Tom (Patti) Dean, Colleen Wertz, Nick (Marie) Dean, Bernie (Kathy) Dean, Debbie (Russ) Willett; many nieces and nephews; life-long friend and neighbor, Jack Ryan; and many other family members and friends.
