Robert Grills Jr.

Robert (Rob) James Grills Jr. 61, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2019 from a long illness. Rob lived a full life, born in Flint, lived in Grand Blanc, Saginaw, Traverse City and spent 20 years in New York City. Rob will be missed by all who loved him and all who knew him. He had an uncanny knack to remember days and dates, phone numbers and addresses of friends and relatives from 50 years ago. Rob was funny, loved a good joke and could tell a better one. Uncle Rob loved his niece and nephews, adored his friends and was generous and compassionate with those he loved. Rob leaves behind his sister Laura (Peter) Grills-Giannone, brothers, James (Linda), David Weber (Keely); niece Margaret O'Connor; nephews Patrick OConnor, James Craig OConnor (Teagan); grand nephew Hudson James OConnor; step-brothers Mike Fassezke (Kellie), David Fassezke (Shelley) and step sister Kathy (Tony) Grasel and several children. He also leaves behind his cousins, Susan Hoyt (Ray), David Hoyt, Scott Hoyt (his partner in crime) and Mary Hoyt, Jeff (Pat) Hoyt and Sally Hoyt. Robs mother Jean Fassezke, father, Robert J. Grills, step-father, Don Fassezke and sister Linda Jo Grills pre-deceased him. Rob put up a fight with his illness, fought it all the way. Rob was brave till the end. The only thing he complained about was food! Robs celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of donations, please live life to the fullest, take care of yourself and thank God for every day.
