Rev. Robert E. Lakey

Rev. Robert E. Lakey Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017, at the Cartwright Residence. Age 90 years. The son of the late Jean (Highgate) and Earl Lakey was born January 2, 1927 in Muskegon, Michigan. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan, Class of 1949, and Princeton Theological Seminary, Class of 1952. He married M. Muriel Reep, October 5, 1963. She passed away January 22, 1997. Rev. Lakey has served several area Presbyterian Churches including Taymouth Presbyterian and retiring from Second Presbyterian Church with over 30 years of service on April 30, 1992. He was active volunteer in the community including the R.E.A.D. Program, Eastside Soup Kitchen, the Presbytery and many other activities. He enjoyed painting and bird watching. Surviving are one son and two daughters, Gary Lakey; Robin Lakey; and Stephanie Martin and her husband, Armand; six grandchildren, Aimee, Christa, Kelsey, Mackenzie, Billy and Steven; two great grandchildren, Kaleb and Elizabeth; two nephews, one niece. His brother, William Lakey, has predeceased him. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Second Presbyterian Church, 2665 Midland Rd. Saginaw, MI. Rev. Ted McCullogh will officiate. Friends may visit with family at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday and then at the Church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
