Norman Dennis Hallett of Saginaw Township Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2019, as a result of renal cell carcinoma, at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison. He was 72 years old. Norman Dennis Hallett was born on October 8, 1946, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Norman L. and Ellen J. (Scovill) Hallett. He was a proud 1964 graduate of Flint Southwestern High School. Norm also attended Mott Community College and Saginaw Valley State University. He married the love of his life and high school sweet heart, Candace M. McClendon, on November 20, 1965, in Flint, Michigan; she survives him. He proudly served his country in Vietnam as a United States Marine. Norm worked for over 30 years as a payroll accountant with General Motors/Delphi. He was of the Lutheran Faith. Norm was a longtime member of the National Nostalgic Nova Club, as well as several local and national antique car organizations. His passion was antique and muscle car collecting/restoration. No matter what, Norm was always rooting for both the Detroit Tigers and Lions. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR. Norm and Candy enjoyed wintering for the past 10 years in North Ft. Myers, Florida. Above all, Norm loved and cherished his wife, children and grandchildren and would do anything for any of them. He will forever be remembered for his detailed perfectionism, his selflessness to all he loved, and his inspirational and indomitable spirit. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Candace M. Hallett of Saginaw Township; daughter, Stephanie (Jason) Lenger of Noblesville, IN; son, Kevin (Stephanie) Hallett of Norton Shores; four grandchildren: Sophia and Violet Lenger, Cameron Hutson, and Mason Hallett; brother, Kenneth Hallett of Presque Isle; sister, Marilyn Kay (Ronald) Lord of Flint; a brother-in-law, Sam (Vickie Moye) McClendon of Saginaw. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Norm was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Marilyn Jean Hallett. A funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Rev. Paul R. Hinz will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps and VFW Post #1859. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center.
