Norma Ruth Hamlin

Passed away peacefully Saturday, November 25, 2017 at HealthSource Saginaw. Norma Ruby was born June 7, 1927 to the late Wilbur E. and Julia E. (Marseilles) Ruby. She married Robert L. Hamlin April 25, 1947; he predeceased her March 4, 2015. After graduating from Arthur Hill High School in 1945, Norma attended Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing graduating in June 1948 as a Registered Nurse. She had been employed at Saginaw General Hospital and also as a private duty nurse for many years. Norma also worked as a nurse at St. Paul Catholic Seminary. Norma also acted as supervisor of one of the first preschool programs for children with disabilities a job she truly loved. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Norma was also a long time member of the Germania Town and Country Club where she enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. Norma is a past president of Womens National Farm and Garden, Saginaw Branch. She enjoyed water color painting. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Deborah and John Egerer and Michael and Darlene Hamlin; six grandchildren, David (Stacey) Egerer, Elizabeth (Dave) Hackett, Ryan (Linley) Combs, Lauren (Ken) Uhrich, Amy (Jeff) Hartenstine, Matt (Megan) Transue; 13 great-grandchildren, Anna, Gracie, Nason, Wyatt, Ryley, Leighton, Israel, Norrah, Lawson, Kendall, Taylor, Logan and Maya; her sister and brother-in-law, Valerie (Milford) Schuette; a special aunt, Rosemany Marceills, and a special longtime friend, Arlene Mossner. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Janice Ruby; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Roy and Rose Marie Hamlin. Memorial service will take place 12 noon Friday, December 1, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 4790 Gratiot. Rev. Amy Terhune will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider First United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
