Mildred Coates

Coates, Mrs. Mildred Saginaw, Michigan Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on September 28, 2017 at Cartwright Hospice Residence at the age of ninety. Mildred was the daughter of Alvin and Almary Clayton. She was born on April 25, 1927 in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. She married Harold E Coates on June 23,1945, enjoying 72 loving years together. He survives her. Mildred's two brothers, Ollie and Marshall, predeceased her. She is survived by her sisters, Della Hasekamp, Jean Vaden and Carol Coppens (Mike). Also surviving are her three children John Coates (Bev), Beverly Centellas (Daniel), Edward Coates (Cynthia), eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Mildred and Harold were lifelong members of Immanuel Bible Church, where she was active in youth ministries, including Pioneer Girls. Mildred and Harold enjoyed travels to Bolivia, Brazil, Panama, and Haiti, some of which were for mission projects. Throughout their lives together, Mildred and Harold had homes in Saginaw, Gladwin and Florida. Mildred worked in banking and for the family business, Coates Tire Company. Mildred's greatest joys were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Coates family extends their grateful appreciation to Dr. Jane Costello and the caring staff at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Funeral Services will take place at 12:00 noon Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, Michigan, where her family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service. Reverend Robert Donaldson will officiate.
