May A. Solmonson

Solmonson, May A. Saginaw, MI Passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the age of 94 years. May was born in Saginaw, Michigan August 13, 1920 the daughter of the late Fred and Beulah (Ranous) Maher. She married Irving Solmonson June 28, 1941. He predeceased her April 26, 2005. May was a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II and later worked for and retired from Sietners clothing store after 20 years of service. She enjoyed doing hand work and crafts; was a worker at the church and a cook for different events. She was very active at the Hale Senior Center in Hale, Michigan until she moved back to Saginaw. May is survived by her son, Gary Solmonson (Helen Lentner) and a daughter, Diana Meyers (Tom Barr, Sr.) and a daughter-in-law, Betty Solmonson; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, May was predeceased by her son, Fred Solmonson May 23, 2012; three brothers, Floyd Maher, Leonard Maher and Louis Mason, Sr.; a sister, Alice Faughnan and a brother-in-law, Donald Salmonson. The funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Rd. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel Friday from 5:00 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
