Son of the late Marvin and Frances (Morford) Schmidt, Marvin was born June 6, 1955, in Saginaw, MI. He married Lisa Spatola in 1997 after she responded to his posting in the singles column of the newspaper. Together they enjoyed camping and going to garage sales. Marvin was a handyman that enjoyed woodworking, video gaming and his cats. He also enjoyed striking up a conversation with everyone he met. Marvin was a member of Beacon of Hope Church and loved his extensive church family.
Surviving are his wife, Lisa Schmidt, three children; Jeremy, Melissa and Joshua, three adopted children; Kristie, Sophia and Elizabeth, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sister, Debbie Carmichael, niece, Amanda, as well as several cousins.
