Beloved, wife, mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the age of 87 years. A resident of Saginaw, Marilyn was born on April 30, 1930 to the late Martin and Martha (Ledtke) Zorn. Marilyn was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, the class of 1948 where she enjoyed being part of the high school band. She married James W. Putnam on April 14, 1951 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Saginaw by Reverend W.H. Koenig. Recently, they celebrated 66 years of marriage just before Jims passing on November 10, 2017. Marilyn was a faithful member of Holy Cross and served on many committees and boards; member of the church choir and co-chairman, with Jim, for the Holy Cross Home Bound Committee. She loved serving the Lord in many ways. Marilyn was employed at Michigan Bell for several years and for 14 years at Hudsons/Macys before retiring. She and Jim were members of the L.F.A. Hall. Marilyn enjoyed her family and friends and the times spent with them. Surviving are two sons and a daughter. Tom and Janet (Young) Putnam, Dunedin, Florida; and their children Jennifer (Matthew) Meyers and Matthew (Natalie) Putnam; Pam and Andy Sims of Battle Creek and their children: Angela (Geoff) Lockwood, Heather (Todd) Thiel, and Ashley (Marc) Veenstra; Terry Putnam in Kentucky along with his son Vincent. Surviving are also several great grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Besides her parents and husband, Marilyn was predeceased by her brother Donald and his wife Sally. Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 Court St. Rev. James F. Krueger will officiate with burial at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may consider Holy Cross Lutheran School.
