Margarete Katherine Gaertner

Passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the age of 92 years. Margarete Katherine Bauer was born October 6, 1925 in Vienna, Austria to the late Johann G. and Maria (Mayer) Bauer. She met Ralph M. Gaertner during WWII and they were then married in Saginaw on February 15, 1947; he predeceased her November 30, 1990. Ralph was co-owner of Gaertners Greenhouse and Floral Shop. Margarete was a long-time volunteer at the Castle Museum and Covenant Cooper Hospital. She is survived by two sons and their spouses, Mark J. and Linda S. Gaertner, Saginaw; and Roy R. and Cathy Gaertner, Saginaw; a granddaughter, Tracey; two grandsons, Douglas and Daniel. Private services will take place with entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum.
