Louis Ernest Zeile

Louis Ernest Zeile Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 96 years. The son of the late Hilda (Moser) and Rev. Andrew Zeile was born June 17, 1921 in Saginaw, Michigan. On June 27, 1951 Lou married Janice Marie Kolterman in St. Paul, MN. Lou and Jan were blessed with 65 years of marriage before Jan passed away on April 19, 2017. Lou received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Valparaiso University and received a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Valparaiso University in 1987. Lous career spanned 33 years of dedicated service to St. Lukes Hospital (Covenant). He was an active member and elder at Peace Lutheran Church. Most of all, Lou enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving are five children and their spouses, Kathi and John Behm (Milwaukee, WI), Kim and Karen Zeile (Clarkston, MI), Karin and Robert Mauro (Denver, CO), Karl and Dian Zeile (Westlake Village, CA), Kurt and Lisa Zeile (Lake Orion, MI), twenty grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; his dear cousin, Victor Roekle, as well as many nieces and nephews. A 6th child, Kevin J. Zeile, passed away December 1977. Private family entombment services took place Saturday June 2, 2018. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Blvd at Mackinaw. Rev. Matthew Hauser will officiate. Family will be present for visitation beginning at 9am.
