Lila Clara (Spencer) Grover-Meade

Grover-Meade, Lila Clara (Spencer) Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Saginaw, Michigan and now lives with her Lord, Jesus Christ. Born in Curtisville, MI June 30, 1916 to Albert and Lillian Spencer. Attended high school in Glennie, MI and graduated from Whittemore High School in 1933. Entered Saginaw Business Institute following graduation and worked for Michigan Bell Telephone in Saginaw for several years. In 1942 she married Ronald C. Grover who predeceased her. Lila was an active member of First Baptist Church of Saginaw since 1933 having several close friendships. For several years she was a deaconess and also served on many boards and committees. She will be remembered for her tireless attention to others of the church congregation, visitations with those in need and providing transportation to and from church. She leaves behind two sons: Ronald Jr. (Karen) Grover, Roger (Leanne) Grover, and is pre-deceased by a daughter Cynthia Spence (Aaron). Also surviving are one sister Degretta Funk of Coldwater, MI, one sister-in-law Helen Spencer of Seal Beach, CA, seven grandchildren and spouses, seventeen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by brothers Sheldon and Julius Spencer and sisters Mary Karls and Doris Thayer. Also pre-deceasing her were half-brothers Raymond Spencer, John Albert Spencer, and Francis Theodore Redmond; and half-sister Rosetta Pearl Brodie. In 2003 Lilia married Stanley Anderson Meade (pre-deceased) in Winson-Salem, NC. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. Pastor Doug Blackwell will officiate with burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
