Larry S. Sample

Sample, Larry S. St. Charles, Michigan Beloved husband, father, brother and uncle, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at the age of 77 years. He was born September 23, 1939, in Saginaw, the son of the late Stanley and Margaret (Bennett) Sample. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1957. He married Joan H. Hoffmann on November 24, 1962; she survives him. Larry had been employed by Helfrecht Machine until its closing and later retired from Central Gear in Madison Heights. He was a member of Amazing Grace Church in Wheeler, and he and his wife served with the Host and Hostess ministry. He had volunteered as a Big Brother. Larry was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying fishing on Michigan's smaller lakes with family and friends, and sharing his vast knowledge from years of research. He also enjoyed and was a member of the MUCC. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing cards and dinners with family. Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Joan; two daughters, Kelly Snyder and her fianc Rich Smith, Lansing; Vonda and her husband Brian Kulick, Midland; two sisters, Betty Hare, St. Charles, and Madonna Lambertson, Saginaw; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Janet Hoffmann, Freeland; several nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Charlie Hare, Harold Lambertson, and Betty and Gary Matula. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, where his family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of service. Pastor Richard L. Jolliff will officiate.
