Laviolette, Karon Lee of Freeland, Michigan Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 20, 2018. She was 79 years old. Karon Lee Maiers was born on August 6, 1939 in Mayville, Michigan to the late Ralph and Grace (Sherk) Maiers. She was a proud 1957 graduate of Mayville High School. Following graduation, Karon attended Central Michigan University for two years, receiving her Associates Degree. She met the love of her life, Daniel G. Laviolette, and they were united in marriage on August 5, 1961 in Mayville; he survives her. Karon worked for General Motors and Ames United Methodist Church as an administrator, while at the same time being an excellent mother, a role she loved and cherished. She was a faithful member of Ames United Methodist Church. She will forever be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her beautiful personality and for living her entire life, loving her family. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Daniel G. Laviolette of Freeland; three married daughters: Lisa (Tom) Quinn of Lexington, MI, Martha (Matthew) Wiltse of Castle Rock, CO and Lynn (Paul Roebke) Laviolette of Traverse City; five grandchildren: David, Paul and Sarah Wiltse, Kaitlyn (Ethan) Stockmeyer and Kevin (Leah) Quinn; two great-grandchildren: Aubrey and Owen Stockmeyer; a brother, Terry (Fran) Maiers; a brother-in-law, William Laviolette and a sister-in-law, Sandy Maiers. She was preceded in death by her brother, Don Maiers, and sister, Lynne Maiers. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Ames United Methodist Church, 801 State Street, Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Douglas Mater will officiate. Private burial will take place at Fremont Township Cemetery in Mayville. Friends and family are welcome to visit at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
