John James Harris

Our beloved father and grandfather passed away on January 9, 2020 at Shattuck Manor, with his family at his side. Age 92 years. John was born on November 9, 1927, son of the late Richard and Marie (Taugher) Harris, in Indiana. He married the love of his life, Mary Margaret Baase on November 27, 1948. She predeceased him on February 26, 2018. John proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. John retired from the Saginaw County Sheriffs Department after holding the positions in road patrol, detective and undersheriff. After retirement, John continued to work in plant security for General Motors. He enjoyed hunting and was a true Detroit Tiger Fan. Above all, John loved the time spent with his family. John will be missed by his children, Richard "Dick" (Sharon) Harris, Susan Nickell, David (Muriel) Harris, Carolyn (Lenny) Hicks, Donald (Betsy) Harris, Ronald (Paula) Harris, Edward (Tammy) Harris, William (Connie) Harris; 50 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Pat Remenecz and Margie ODell. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Harris. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2020, at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw. Rev. Paul Hinz will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Military honors will be conducted under the Auspices of the United States Navy and V.F.W. Post #1859.
