Sygo, Jim J. Saginaw, Michigan Beloved husband, father, Passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, July 6, 2018, at the age of 68 years. Jim Joseph Sygo was born July 16, 1949, in Dearborn, Michigan, the son of the late Joseph and Irene (Cwiek) Sygo. He graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn with the Class of 1967. He received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering and later his Master of Engineer degrees from the University of Michigan. Jim retired from the State of Michigan Department of Environmental Quality in 2016, after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Jim was an avid University of Michigan fan. He married Sandra Martin in 1971; she survives him. He is also survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Matthew Joseph and Amanda Sygo, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Jeffrey Thomas Sygo, Saginaw; four grandchildren, Maximilian, Scarlett, Adalyn and Marek; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Joelann Sygo, Vanderbilt, Michigan; his mother-in-law, Helen Martin, Warren, Michigan; four sisters-in-law and their spouses, Cathy and Ted Miller, Paula and Terry Pake, Athena and Joe Kovalcik, and Paula Kalevas; many nieces, nephews and their families. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State Street. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate. Private committal service will take place later. Jim's family will receive friends at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Monday and on Tuesday, where friends will gather for a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Family and friends may then gather at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
