Putnam, James W. Saginaw, Michigan Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the age of 87 years. Jim was a resident of Saginaw. He was born on July 24, 1930, the son of late, Harry and Rosina (Potoloski) Putnam. He married Marilyn J. Zorn on April 14, 1951 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Saginaw, by Reverend W.H. Koenig. Marilyn survives him. Recently, they celebrated 66 years of marriage. Jim was a faithful member of Holy Cross and served on many committees and boards. He was chairman of the day school committee, an usher and a trustee. He was chairman of the building committee of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, Bloomfield Hills, MI. He loved serving the Lord in many ways. Jim was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, Class of 1948. Jim was employed in the oil business for over 50 years in outside sales and management. He was employed by Union 76, Cities Service, United Refining of Pennsylvania and Saginaw Central Oil. Jim was a girls Softball coach at Holy Cross Lutheran School. He enjoyed attending Bible study. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Surviving beside his wife, Marilyn are their two sons and a daughter. Tom and Janet (Young) Putnam, Dunedin, Florida; and their children Jennifer (Matthew) Meyers and Matthew (Natalie) Putnam; Pam and Andy Sims of Battle Creek and their children: Angela (Geoff) Lockwood, Heather (Todd) Thiel, and Ashley (Marc) Veenstra; Terry Putnam in Kentucky along with his son Vincent. Surviving are also several great grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and his sister-in-law Connie Putnam. Jim was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Lambert, and brothers, Nelson, and Harry Putnam, Jr., brother-in-law, Theodore Lambert, and sister in law, Shirley Putnam, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Martin and Martha Zorn. Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 Court St., Rev. James F. Krueger will officiate with burial at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
