Erskine, Hersey Reed Hemlock, Michigan Passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 at his home, age 86 years. Hersey was born in Hemlock, Michigan June 26, 1927 the son of the late Welby and Cassie (Crawford) Erskine, Sr. Hersey served in the United States Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He owned and operated Erskine Heating and Plumbing in Hemlock for 38 years. He served as a volunteer firefighter with the Richland Township Fire Dept. and served as the Richland Township Clerk. Hersey was a member of the Hemlock Merrill VFW Post No. 7302. He was an avid deer hunter and golfer. Hersey is survived by four daughters, Christine Marcotte, Vicki (Tom) Ewald, Gail (Patrick) Wolgast and Patti Zimmerman; 9 grandchildren, Michelle, Heather, Michael, Matthew, Patrick, Ryan, Linsie, Nicholas and Andrew; 14 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Shiloah, Sophia, Gianna, Tylee, Courtney, Justin, Jessica, Laren, Sydney, Caelyn, Nicholas, Olivia and Calista; the mother of his children, Marie Erskine; three sisters, Juanita Bartlett, Carolyn Ewart and Nancy (Marv) Hare; other close relatives, Garry, Larry, Kim, Stacy, Justin, Lindsey and Billy; his caregiver, Mary Goss and Dominick. He was predeceased by a sister, Gail Ann and a brother, Welby, Jr. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Rd. Rev. Jerry Densmore will officiate with graveside military services under the auspices of Hemlock-Merrill VFW Post No. 7302. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel Monday from 2:00 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
