Harold Erwin Nadler

Passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Toni and Trish House at the age of 87 years. Harold E. Nadler was born on February 11, 1931 in Saginaw; the only child of Frank L. and Clara (Leuenberger) Nadler. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the class of 1949. He also attended the Michigan Conference of UCC at Hope College. Harold then entered the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954; stationed in FT. Riley in Kansas with the 10th Infantry Division Permanent Party for basic training, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was employed by the State of Michigan Social Services, working as a supervisor and retiring in March of 1993 after 25 years of service. During his time with the State of Michigan, Harold attended and received an associates degree with Delta College. He enjoyed his home on Ross Lake in Beaverton for over 60 years. He was a member of First Congregational Church since 1970 and served on many boards and committees. He also represented the Church at the Michigan Conference, United Church of Christ in Lansing for 6 years on the churchs society and World Mission groups. Harold was also a member of Saginaw Valley Sports Car Club, serving as president and directing it to become the Saginaw Valley Regional Sports Car Club of America, also acting as regional executive. He enjoyed car rallys and was navigator for Ed Hart: running in national rallies, the Canadian Winter Rally and getting a national racer registrar license. Harold also was a member of the Castle Museum, Temple Theatre Organ Club, Equality Michigan, American Civil Liberties Union, and United Church of Christ, where he served on the board for 20 years. His dog, Mitzi, a miniature dachshund was his constant companion. Harold was predeceased by his parents, Clare on April 1, 1944 and Frank on August 29, 1971. He was also predeceased by several close friends: Mrs. Clara Hughes, Ignacio "Chita" Godina, and Charles Painter. He is survived by his dog, Mitzi, and special friends: Luther Hale, Nancy Lawrence, Ed Pappert, Marc Thibaudeau, Lori Painter, Colorgio Rosas, Hilda Kidder, Janice Thomas, Sue Redifer, and Tito Zamora. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 at First Congregational Church, 403 S. Jefferson St., Saginaw. Janice E. Thomas, Lay Minister; Member in Discernment will officiate with private burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church or Toni and Trish House.
