Gloria K. Byers

Byers, Gloria K. (Anklam/Johnson) Saginaw, MI Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister was received into the Lord's arms on March 19, 2014, at the age of 78. Gloria was born May 2, 1935, in Saginaw to the late Charles and Dorothy (Maine) Anklam. She married Herbert W. Byers, Sr. on October 9, 1954; he predeceased her October 1, 1986. She then married Roy M. Johnson on May 5, 2002; he predeceased her May 1, 2013. She was very active in a number of organizations, including the March of Dimes, Saginaw Sunshine Club, Merry Wives, Saginaw Republican Women, and Town Talk. Being active in Gethsemane Lutheran Church and School was an essential part of her life. She lived her life with joy and love. She will be missed by her children, Dorothy (Brian) Louks, Dr. Laura (Randolph Flechsig) Byers, and Herbert (Pam) Byers; step-children, Sue (Tony) Stempky and Barbara (John) Snyder; grandchildren, Martha (Arthur Williams) Louks, Aaron (Shannon Kropkowski) Louks, Harrison Flechsig, Clayton Flechsig, Donovan Sandrey, Dylan Sandrey, Joseph Stempky, Laura Stempky, Katherine (Alex Kennedy) Snyder, Mary Elizabeth Snyder, and Jamie Snyder; great-grandchildren, Melody and Samantha; siblings, Elaine (Ernest) Piehl and Charles (Linda) Anklam II; and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
