Gerald Roger Schmidt

Beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018. Age 91 years. The son of the late Laura (Peters) and Elmer Schmidt was born January 17, 1927 in Bay City, Michigan. He was married to Mary Carden. She predeceased him October 28, 1972. Gerald worked as a Registered Nurse for the Saginaw Aleda Lutz Veterans Hospital for 32 years. He was a long standing member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hemlock. Surviving two daughters, one son and their spouses, Rebecca and Thomas Bullard; Barbara and David Nixon; Eric and Leslie Schmidt; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie, Julie, Brian, Jason, Joel, Jennifer, Amanda, Kora, Katie and Melissa; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A daughter, Ellen Zimmer has also predeceased him. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 N. Raucholz Rd. Hemlock, Michigan. Rev. Dr. William L. Morris and Rev. Richard Mundt will officiate. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Friday and then on Saturday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
