Sauve, Gerald M. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away early Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at the age of 87 years. He was born April 2, 1930, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, the son of the late Joseph and Clara (Fauteux) Sauve. He married Delores Slyziuk on July 30, 1950; she survives him. They made their home in Livonia until moving to Saginaw 15 years ago. While in the Detroit area, he owned a Marathon Service Station in Farmington. He had been a member of St. Kenneth Catholic Church, in Plymouth and the Knights of Columbus in Livonia. He was currently a member at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and its Knights of Columbus Council. He was an avid bowler and golfer, belonging to various leagues, and enjoyed fishing. He was a dedicated sports fan, especially enjoying hockey and baseball. Gerald was a very talented woodcarver, especially of waterfowl, and enjoyed painting and other artistic endeavors. Surviving besides his wife, Delores, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Karen Sauve, Chicago, IL; David and Anne Marie Sauve, Saginaw; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Christin and her husband Mike Gray, and their children, Cailyn, Logan and Caroline; Ryan Sauve; Emily, Angela and Olivia Sauve; two step-granddaughters, Alex (Jones) and her husband, Brad Kirschenbaum, and Sam Jones; three sisters and one brother, Mary Groulx, Doris Fox, Henry and his wife Shirley Sauve, and Carol and her husband Arthur Bartlett; one sister-in-law, Stella Kukhahn; many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by one sister and her husband, Helen and Fred Verstick; and by four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Ray Groulx, George Fox, Ernie and Rose Slyziuk and Mike and Rose Slyziuk. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Geralds family will receive friends at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd., from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, where a parish vigil will take place at 7:00 p.m. Monday. The Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Monday. Family and friends may then gather at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Holy Spirit Catholic Church or Saginaw County Right to Life.
