Beloved father passed away on June 10, 2020 of natural causes, age 89. The son of the late Elroy Phelps and Nina Mae (Wolverton) Johnson, Gerald was born on December 2, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Phyllis R. Gerard on October 10, 1953. They were married just shy of 59 years at her passing in 2012. Gerald worked for Saginaw Steering Gear for 32 years, retiring in 1987 to assist Phyllis in their drapery and upholstery business. They traveled extensively with their trailer and faithful canine companions. Together they visited 47 states. He was a Deacon at Faith Baptist Church.

Surviving are three children: Darrell Johnson, St Charles, MI; Gary and Ann Johnson, Reese, MI; Linda Uloth, Saginaw, MI; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and even a great-great-grand-daughter! Gerald was preceded in death by his sister: Norma Jean.

Funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Faith Baptist Church, 4690 Tittabawassee Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48604. Rev. Scott McIntyre will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the church. Due to the Worldwide Health Pandemic, State guidelines will be followed. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Faith Baptist Church.
