Fredric L. Sackrider

Fredric L. "Fred" Sackrider, 62 of Vanderbilt (formerly of Zilwaukee) passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. Born on May 25, 1955 in Saginaw, Fred was the son of Freddy and Joan (Wood) Sackrider. Fred served in the U.S. Navy from 1972-1974. For several years he worked as a truck driver at Airborne Express in Freeland and also tended bar in Carlton and Zilwaukee. A kind and caring man, he also worked as a caregiver to the elderly. On May 18, 1985 Fred married Kathleen A. Bull in Zilwaukee where they lived before later moving to Vanderbilt Fred will be remembered as an avid sports fan. He loved the Detroit Tigers and Lions and he found great joy in following his children and grand children in their sporting events. He loved spending time with his dogs, Gus and Lily. Fred is survived by his wife Kathleen (Kathy); his sons, Fred Sackrider II of Bay City and Ryan (Marissa) Sackrider of Johannesburg; grandchildren, Colin, Ady, Khloe and Zac; his father, Freddy (Sharon Sackrider) of Wolverine; sisters, Gloria (Greg) Smith of Gaylord, Tammy (Steve) Ralston of Vanderbilt and Trina (Rich) Belger of Birch Run; brothers, Denny (Karen) Wood of St. Charles, Doug (Sharon) Adamczyk and Greg (Wendy) Adamczyk both of Bay City; a special aunt, Mary Lou van den Hoek of Wolverine and many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Florence Bull of Bridgeport. Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Sackrider McChesney; his "second mother", Jo Sackrider and his father-in-law, Ken Bull. A memorial gathering will be held from 3:00-6:30 PM Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service followed by a time of sharing and military honors at 6:30 PM. A memorial gathering with a prayer service will be held from 3:00-8:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2017 at W.L. Case Funeral Home, 5700 Dixie Highway, Saginaw, MI 48601. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Alano Club in Gaylord or to the family.
