Fred J. Calaway Merrill, Michigan

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Samaritas Senior Living of Saginaw, with his family at his side. At the age of 79 years. The son of the late Fred and Irene (Benway) Calaway, was born on October 11, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan. Fred married the love of his life, Linda M. Brown on January 11, 1963 in Saginaw, Michigan; she survives him. He proudly served for three years in the United States Army. Fred worked many years of service as an electrician and retired from General Motors. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and camping. Fred was a baseball coach for many years for the little league and pony leagues in Merrill. He was a proud Spartans fan, watching many basketball and baseball games. His family says that Fred loved kidding around and telling jokes. Above all, Fred cherished his family.

Surviving besides his wife of 57 years, Linda; are two sons and their spouses, Bob and Deb Calaway, Fred and Tracey Calaway; two grandsons, Joshua Calaway, Caleb Calaway; two step-grandsons, Jim Hanson, Dan (Brooke) Hanson; step-great-granddaughter, Avarie Hanson. Besides his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a grandson, Jordan Calaway; and a daughter-in-law, Mollie Calaway.

Honoring Freds wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel.
