Frank Purtell Saginaw, Michigan Beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend, died peacefully, Friday, February 3, 2017 after losing his battle with cancer. Age 66 years.
The son of the late Richard and Blanche (Buhl) was born April 21, 1950 in Bay City, Michigan. He was a graduate of Pinconning High School and Delta College. He married Jeryl (JB) Barry. His wife of 35 years survives him. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-1972. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #7302 and American Legion Post # 225. Frank was employed as a millwright/journeyman with General Motors at Grey Iron Foundry, Nodular Iron, Danville, Illinois and Malleable Iron in Saginaw, retiring with 32 years of service. Frank was an avid reader, enjoyed motorcycles, duck hunting, old movies, the history channel and the Dodge Dart. He was a member of the NRA and Saginaw Field and Stream Club. He will be truly missed and forever in our hearts.
Surviving besides his wife, Jeryl, are two brothers and their spouses, Greg and Bonnie Purtell; Paul and Sandy Purtell; a sister-in-law, Gloria Purtell; his mother-in-law, Bernice Barry; his father-in-law, Eugene (John) Barry; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James Barry, Jon Peyerk; Jo Wolschlager, Jean Barry, Jana (Al) Barry, Jeff Barry; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; his special Friends, Bob Murray, George Brown and Craig Latarte. He was predeceased by his brother, Christopher Purtell and his brother-in-law, PFC Jeremy Barry.
The funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate with cremation to follow. Military honors will be under the auspices of V.F.W. Post 7302. Friends may call at the chapel from 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Friday. Mr. Purtell's family wish to thank Dr. Louis Byrne, his staff and SouthernCare Hospice and a special thank you to his sister-in-law Gloria Purtell for their help and concern.
