Florence D. Stansbury

Stansbury, Florence D. Saginaw, MI Age 92, went to be home with the Lord on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Florence was a loving mother, wife and friend to all. She lived her life with "class" even during her many years with dementia. Florence was born in Saginaw, Michigan November 30, 1921 as Florence D. (Hoffman) Quinn and became Florence D. Uphoff, when she was adopted as an infant by Charles and Elsie Uphoff. She was a proud member of the first graduating class of the new Arthur Hill High School in 1939. After high school she worked in retail until 1941, when she married Donald C. Dawson. After Don's death in 1973, she married Eugene P. Stansbury in 1980. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Saginaw (now known as FBC Beacon of Hope). Florence enjoyed being with her family, winters in North Port, Florida, playing the organ, playing cards with family and friends, dancing, hooking rugs as gifts for family and friends, visiting with her many friends and her membership in the Germania and the Merry Wives. Florence is survived by three children, Dr. Thomas (Val) Dawson, Saginaw, MI, Don (Lin) Dawson, Lansing, MI and Connie Jo (Layne) See, Lowell, MI; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step children, Greg Stansbury, Freeland, MI, Brian (Susie) Stansbury, Mattawan, MI, Kay (Michael) O'Laughlin, Gloucester, MA, Burt (Anita) Stansbury, Saginaw, MI and Pam (Dave) Gladysz, Sarasota, FL; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, as well as many loving relatives and friends and her special caregiver, Megan Duve. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Donald Dawson (1973); her husband, Eugene P. Stansbury (1997) and her sister, Anita Slachta (2010). The funeral service will take place 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Tucker Gunneman will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral chapel Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service.
