Evarene M. Neuman

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at her home with her family by her side. She was 96 years old. Evarene May Schlichter was born on December 24, 1922, in Mayville, Michigan, the last of seven children born to the late Charles and Lottie (Blasius) Schlichter. She was baptized on January 22, 1923, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Mayville and confirmed on April 14, 1935. Evarene graduated as valedictorian from Mayville High School and was the last surviving student in her class of 1939. Following graduation, she attended Doctor Martin Lutheran College in Minnesota. Evarene married the love of her life, Walter Neuman on October 29, 1950 in Mayville; he preceded her in death on January 30, 2006. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church and served on the Altar Guild Society and Women Serving Christ. Evarene communicated the Gospel of Christ through her service to others. She shared numerous jokes, poems, and old hymns along the way. Evarene will forever be remembered by her family as "Gods faithful servant". Eternally optimistic, she would often say "the best is yet to come". Surviving are three sons: Thomas (Dale) Neuman, David (Stevenie) Neuman, and Mark Neuman; four grandchildren: Stephen (Corrina) Neuman, Michael (Kate) Neuman, Jonathan (Rosann) Neuman, and Julia Neuman; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 1020 Court St., Saginaw, Michigan, followed by a luncheon. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A private burial will take place at Fremont Township Cemetery in Mayville. Honoring Evarenes wishes cremation has taken place.
