Elias Dimitrios Christophilopoulos

Elias Dimitrios Christophilopoulos Saginaw, Michigan Elias "Papa Joe" passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Marys Hospital. Age 85 years. He was born October 23, 1932 in Kopanaki, Greece, coming to the U.S.A. in 1970. He married the love of his life, Andriani Kiritsi in 1960. She passed away in 2000. He had a specialty carpentry business and then owned and operated Papa Joes Restaurant until retiring in 2000. A loving and generous man, he fed and cared for many at the restaurant. He and his wife were instrumental in beginning St. Demetrios Church in Pomona, California and he attended St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Saginaw. Papa Joes first love was his family, he also enjoyed gardening, cooking and taking long walks with his dog, Gertie. Surviving are his daughter, Maria Christophilopoulos, his son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Barbara Christophilopoulos; two brothers and their wives, Nondas and Eleni Christophilopoulos; Adam and Espacia Christophilopoulos; a sister-in-law, Basiliki Kotsoyianis; several nieces, nephews and his dog Gertie. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 4970 Mackinaw Rd. Saginaw. Fr. Timothy Cook will officiate with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the funeral service. www.casefuneralhome.com
