Edwin Lee Perkins

Edwin Lee Perkins Bridgeport, MI Formerly of Durand Passed away on March 20, 2019 at his home. He was 81 years old. Edwin was born on June 13, 1937 to the late Lyman and Beatrice (Stone) Perkins. He was a proud graduate of Millwright Trade School of Delta College. Edwin proudly served his country in the Army in the 42nd Infantry in Germany in 1955. He married Janice Redburn on October 19th, 1957 in Bridgeport, they have been happily married for 61 and a half years; she survives him. He was employed in skilled trades at General Motors where he served 27 years. Edwin was an avid hunter, nature man, animal lover and a man of many talents . He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially playing Euchre and going on Sunday adventures that always included a picnic basket. He also loved ice cream and enjoyed camping trips. Edwin was a very loving and patient person, he will be remembered as a family man. Surviving are his five daughters, Pamela (Tim) Purman, Janice (Jerry) Wazny, Jeanette (Todd) Green, Sandra (David) Tyson, and LeeAnn (James) Castle; seven grandchildren, Janel (Ryan Dilts) Purman, Jayson Lee (Tina) Wazny, Kevin (Brittani) Purman, Bridget (Brent) Culey, Sarah Jean (Glen) Mayle, Samantha (Darwin) Schmitzer and Kaylee (Alan McGlone) Castle; 13 great-grand children; a sister, Betty Natzel; two brothers, Bob Perkins and Richard Perkins; close family members Carol and Roy Moe and Gerald Redburn. He was preceded in death by a brother, "Buddy" Perkins; and a grandson, Kyle Wazny. A Funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Monday March 25, 2019 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 6065 King Rd. Bridgeport. Rev. Rhenna Goodrich will officiate. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 pm to 8:00pm on Sunday March 24, 2019 at W.L. Case and Company, 5700 Dixie Highway and from noon until the time of service at the church. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Perkins family c/o Janice Perkins.
