Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 15, 2021, at Health Source of Saginaw, with her family at her side; at the age of 85 years.

The daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Seefelder) Kaltenbach, Dorothy was born on September 25, 1935 in Thomas Township, Michigan. She graduated from Hemlock High School; then she continued her education at Central Michigan University. Dorothy married Glenn Erskine on July 27, 1957, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Saginaw; he preceded her in death on February 9, 2017. She was a member at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, Hemlock. She enjoyed camping, gardening, reading books, golfing, bowling and playing cards; especially with her family and cousins. Above all, Dorothy cherished the time spent with her loving family; especially spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters: Timothy (Lori) Erskine, Terry (Tami) Erskine, Sandra Burns, Susan Erskine; son-in-law: Michael Schultz; fourteen grandchildren: Timothy Jr., Christie (Mike), Jonathan (Cherie), Maranda, Terry, Tony, Teddy, Michael (Ashley), Cassie (Tristan), Shannon, Craig, Andrew, Jessica, McKayla; sixteen great-grandchildren; Dale (Joan) Erskine. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Dorothy was preceded in death by a daughter: Cynthia Schultz; a grandson: Gregory Schultz; two sisters Eleanor (Anthony) Czymbor, Ruth (Frank) Czymbor; and brother: Edward Kaltenbach.

Honoring Dorothy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, 151 St. Mary’s Drive, Hemlock. Rev. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp, S.J. will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, indoor capacity is limited, face coverings are required, and social distancing encouraged. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to reduce the spread of covid-19 in our community. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John XXIII, St. Mary Catholic Church.
